Sunday School

SUNDAY SCHOOL: The Sunday School curriculum follows the lectionary and the seasons of the church year. This fall during the end of the Pentecost season we will be focusing on following in the footsteps of Jesus. Sunday School is in session each Sunday morning from 9:30-10:45. We will be incorporating music, art, drama, crafts, outreach, and meditation into our weekly sessions to help children understand and implement the scriptures. .

We now have four classes: Pre-School (ages 3 to 5), Elementary (ages 6-10), Youth (ages 11 to 16), and an Adult class. Parents of the children are encouraged to stay and attend the Adult class which is currently led by Pastor Jeff Campbell. Children's classes are led by Melissa Schofield, Melanie Robinson, Renee Carpenter, Chris Webber, and Ann Robinson.

Our Adult Class also follows the Christian year and the lectionary texts for each Sunday. We begin by looking closely at the texts for the week, we then share with one another what the text means to us based on our life experiences, and then we seek practical application for our lives and the ministry of the church. Coffee, orange juice, and breakfast snacks are provided as we spend time in the Word of God.

YOUTH GROUP:

Our Youth Group meets every Sunday at 6:30 P.M. (grades 9-12) with the Wharton United Presbyterian Youth Group at the Presbyterian Church located at the intersection of W. Dewey Ave. and N. Main Street, Wharton. Beginning September 29th, the Youth Group will host a Jr. Youth Group for grades 6-8. The Jr. Youth Group will meet once a month at the same time.

CHOIR:

Enjoy singing? Join the choir under the wonderful direction of Cindy Senatore. Come Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. and help us make a joyful noise each Sunday. The choir also performs for major Wharton events and at assisted living / nursing homes during the Holiday Season.

UMW

United Methodist Women meet at noon on the first Thursday of each month, with the exception of June, July and August. We offer a time of worship and fellowship, along with the planning of how we may best serve St. John's and the Wharton community. New members and guests are always welcome.
