In today"s sermon, "I Am Jesus Who You Are Persecuting", according to the section "Summary from last week (35)": Where are the leaders of God established? Why are there still many brothers and sisters who wander in the darkness?
In the section "As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him": Who is Saul? Who did he think were "an axis of evil"? Relate others called by similar names in modern history.
What are the fights, battles, and spiritual warfare described in the Bible stories, and what are they not? How does God reveal the hidden darkness of His own people? Cite examples of this in the books of Exodus, Joshua, and Judges. What must we do, and who actually does the fighting? What does the book of Hosea say we must do in order for God to appear? If our Gospel doesn't become the true Gospel, but just religious belief, what kind of ideology and conduct will appear from our lives? What will true faith of the Gospel lead us to see? What was Habakkuk's prayer, in Habakkuk 3:2, about?
What happens when the church becomes a religious organization? In John 6:29, what did Jesus say "the work of God" is? What is our main work for God? Instead of mentioning social, economic, and political issues, who did Jesus harshly rebuke? When did crowds come to realize the Truth spoken by Jesus?
What do the words "light" and "good deeds" mean in Matthew 5:16? How is this done? When does God truly receive glory from us?
In the section "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?" "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied": What was Saul's zeal based on? Why does God blind the minds of unbelievers, and how does He give us the light of knowledge of His glory? What caused Saul to persecute Jesus? What do the words "Why do you persecute Me?" symbolize, and how do we still do it today? (see Hebrews 6:4-8)
What Symbolism do you see in verse 9, when Saul was blinded for three days? Do you think he was seeking God at that time? What does Revelation 20:12-14 say about the judgement of the dead?
In the "Conclusion": Why does the Bible say that all people were born with sin and live as sinners? How was that sin demolished. How are we no longer persecutors of Jesus? What is the mission of God's church?
In "Beloved Enemy", by Ray Stedman: What are the three stages o:f the progress of the Gospel given by our Lord Jesus in Acts 1:8? Who was the instrument being prepared by the Lord to move the Gospel into the third stage?
How is Saul both the pursuer and the pursued in this account? In Acts 9:1, compare the Literal translation with the King James translation of the word "breathing", and relate it to Saul's zeal and atmosphere in which he lived. How is this described by Saul himself in Acts 26:9-11? How does this contrast to the description of the name given to Christians in Acts 9:2?
Why is it symbolically important that Saul was converted outside the land of Israel? How is the question of Jesus to Saul, "Why are you persecuting Me?", similar to the question of God to Adam in the Garden, "Where are you?"? How do the words of Jesus, "Arise and enter the city, and there you will be told what to do.", indicate a tremendous reversal of Saul's whole approach to life?
In today's daily devotion, entitled "Just The Right Time": Describe how God is like an orchestra conductor working out His plan in the fullness of time? How do we, and you in particular, fit into that plan?
