Discussion 21: Read the sermon dated 9-7-14, and today's daily devotion.

The Big Picture: Read Hebrews 2, Psalm 8, and Psalm 144. Who is the "man" and "son of man" referred to in these scriptures? What is their relationship to Jesus, as mentioned in Hebrews 2?

Review both the written and audio sermon by Ray Stedman entitled: "The True Man". What do you think is the relationship between the man and son of man in the previous scriptures with that of Jesus?

Do some online research to read contrasting views of these scriptures. Use concordance and Lexicon references to find the meanings of the words "man" and "son of man" in both Greek and Hebrew languages.

Has your picture of the relationship of Christ and man changed at all?

Contemplate and investigate the "apparent" conflicting statements concerning "abandonment" in Matthew 27:46 (also found in Psalm 22:1) and Deuteronomy 31:6. Compare your findings with the sermon from 8-31-14 (The Predestined Suffering Of Christ), particularly the final section entitled "The Suffering of Christ".

How does your understanding of these verses compare with your idea of the character of God and the character of Christ?

Begin an ongoing study of the attributes of God and Jesus Christ.

How does your knowledge of "Christ in you" reflect itself in the question of "Who am I?" and affirm your identity in Christ?

How does this identity help you to preach the true Gospel?

How does today's devotional (Our Daily Bread, Sunday September 14, 2014) also attest to this identity?
