Discussion 16: Read Chapter Ten of "Classic Christianity", the sermon for 4-27-14, and today's daily devotional, looking for similarities and differences.

Classic Christianity:

Read Genesis 1:1-5, John 1:1-5, 1 Peter 2:5 & 9, and Revelation 1:6 & 5:10. What thoughts do you have concerning darkness, light, and our purpose in creation?

How does the author's picture of "the banquet table or the garbage can" remind us of law and grace? (pages 125-127)

Read John 17:3 and reflect on Bob George's statement: "That is the real goal of the Christian life! Knowing Christ!". (page 127)

Why is the Law insufficient to make men right with God? Why will you never be able to experience peace or rest under law? (pages 128-136)

What is the purpose of the Law and why can't Law and Grace coexist? (pages 136-137)

Read Matthew 5:17-20 and further explain the previous question.

Sermon:

In today's sermon, how is the law fulfilled in you through the first resurrection? (Summary from Last Sermon)

After receiving the Spirit and beginning your new life in Christ, how does your prayer life help to lead you out of darkness into Christ's light? How does this give added insight into Paul encouraging us to "pray continually" in 1 Thessalonians 5:16? (They all joined together constantly in prayer...(v.14))

What does the character of Judas tell us about our own darkness, and how does it help us to trust God that His will shall be accomplished in our lives? (v.16)

How does seeing God's hand in your past circumstances help you to see Him working in your life at this present moment? (Conclusion)
